Skin rejuvenation peels
What is a skin peel?
Skin peels (also known as facial peels or chemical peels) are a great way to revitalise your skin by literally peeling away the dull, dead skin cells on the surface and revealing the healthy new skin cells beneath. If you have sun-damaged, aging, blemish-prone, acne scarred skin, hyperpigmentation, melasma or general poor skin quality, you skin will benefit most from a peel.
The procedure
During your consultation at Serenity Therapies in Tunbridge Wells, I will advice you on which peel will specifically match your skin type and the desired results. I usually advise a course of treatments, once every 3 weeks over a 9 week period. For the best results a medium peel is recommended or a deep peel under the care of a dermatologist.
From start to finish the procedure should take approximately 20 mintues. There is little or no downtime however you may be more sensitive to the sun, so I recommend limiting sun exposure during treatment and for at least one week afterward, and of course, wearing a high protection sunscreen.
The benefits of skin rejuventation peels
After your facial peel you will notice an improvement in your skin's texture and tone. There will be a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, age spots and scarring creating a smoother complexion. Your skin will have a healthier more youthful appearance.
Potential side effects of skin rejuventation peels
Chemical peels are extremely gentle, only affecting the skin's top layers. People with skin allergies or sensitive skin should consult a dermatologist before treatment.
What about before and aftercare?
The avoidence of certain chemicals contained in your normal daily skin products should be avoided, thus ensuring it is in prime condition before the chemical peel. This will be discussed in your consultation.
It is also important that sunblock is worn after your treatment to protect your skin from causing further damage. Clients must avoid sun exposure during the treatment phase, as well as for some time afterwards.
